Be my guest

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that my second guest post for Fredericksburg Parent is up! Check it out here. I chat about basics and mix in a little humor too! My outfit today has a lot of the “basics” that I discussed, a t-shirt, skinny jeans and in this case a faux suede jacket.

(Notice my little photo bombers in the windows, #momlife)

Ya’ll as a mom, it’s hard to get a photo without my kids nosing around. It’s ok, at least they are cute photo bombers and they’re not picking their noses or mooning me.  I should post the outtakes,  because even just getting this shot was a struggle.

One of my favorite things about this outfit is the mixing of textures.  The denim (Kan Can) faux suede jacket (Romeo + Juliet) both are from TjMaxx and faux fur scarf (Grace and Lace, find it here) add dimension and interest. My booties are Zigisoho and came from DSW

(How’s this for added interest! Color and texture galore! It’s also my favorite room)

I hope you all have a great stylish day!

This is me

This is me, hi! My name is Lorraine and I’m a style-aholic. Yes that’s an actual word, I made it up.

Yep, here I am, another blogger blogging. What does that even mean… blogging? Who made that word up?!? I don’t know, but I thought maybe you all would like to know more about me and what I’m all about. Allow me to introduce myself (which is crazy because I’m actually terribly introverted!!!) I’m Lorraine, I’m a mom of two young kids (ages 6 and 4) , a wife to an amazing husband and I LOVE style, oh and wine… I love wine!!! And coffee, how did I forget coffee?!? And shoes!!! Oh, I could go on and on…

I’ve always had an interest in fashion and style. Even while attending Rochester Institute of Technology and earning my degree in Advertising photography, I made sure I was always on point. Although, wearing heels during winter in a city close to Canada wasn’t always easy, I rocked it. It’s what I did. I just made sure not to wear too much white, because no one would be able to see me against the sky high mountains of plowed snow. Camouflage at its finest, folks. To this day, my friends still make fun of me for always wearing heels. I mean I’d even be wearing heels when we were shooting on location in the middle of a forest that was out in the middle of nowhere and required hiking, trail blazing and river crossing…actually, hang on, I think we were in a real life game of Oregon Trail. Pretty sure no one got dysentery though, so that’s good! You’d think after all of that I could conquer anything while wearing 5” heels. And guess what, I can!

After my kids were born, I started working as a family photographer and just recently picked up this blogging thing. I am also a guest writer for Fredericksburg Parent, where I talk about all things stylish. Check out my most recent post about style basics.  I’ve come to realize that along with my love of photographing families and babies, I also love writing and sharing my style sense in a humorous, relatable way. With some help from my friends and husband, Rain In Style was born.

Honestly though, I probably (who am I kidding, I definitely) wasn’t always the most stylish person ever, I made some crazy style choices, especially way back in high school. Check out this side by side…

Yes I look entirely different, yes this is hysterical and kind of embarrassing, but my style preference remains relatively the same. I’ve always been edgy. Throughout the years, my style has evolved and changed, but not always for the better. Over the last year or so I’ve been actively trying to break out of the mommy style rut that I had found myself in, please read my guest blog post on this very topic over at Fredericksburg Parent.

So that’s me in a nut shell. Follow me and get ready for a stylish journey that’s not short on humor and sarcasm. I hope you laugh along with me, learn from my style successes and failures and get into your own style groove. Let’s do this.
